Two P42DCs lead the southbound Coast Starlight over Highway 87 and the Guadalupe River. The train is running over three hours late, having departed San Jose at 1:44 PM; the train is scheduled through SJ at 10:14 AM. Amtrak 176 and 133 were built in the early 2000s by General Electric, and are the power for todays train. Taken from Highway 87-Interstate 280 interchange eastbound. EDIT: Just 2 months after this image was taken, and 6 days after I originally uploaded the image, Amtrak 133 (trailing unit) was the lead engine in a fatal collision and derailment in rural Missouri. |
