"New York Division," Page 25, 1942         
Here is page 18 of an 18-page article by W.R. Osborne entitled "Greatest Show On Earth: New York Division, P.R.R." It was published originally in the January 1942 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 25. Partial Caption: "The 28 Class B-1 electric six-wheeled switching locomotives of the Pennsylvania are on a practically 24-hour shift." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3913, a B-1 (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata as number "3913" during June of 1926, rated at 570 horsepower, and renumbered "4752" in March of 1967 in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger.

Tom Beckett General These units lasted into the 1970's; at least a few were painted PC. My dad has photos he took from the LIRR as he passed Sunnyside, which was a marvel of interline passenger cars when he started riding past there in the mid 1960's. 10/17/2019 4:21:44 AM
