| MILW Class 3.8 DS 997, Savanna, Illinois, July 23, 1963, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in January 1942 by Davenport as road number 1709, this was one of only two Davenport 44 ton locomotives on the Milwaukee. Number 997 was retired in 1958, and apparently languished around until this photo date. The other was 1708, wrecked August 19, 1958. |
