MILW E9 37A
The Milwaukee Road E9 37A at Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on June 29, 1966, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in April 1961 (c/n 26567) on EMD Order 7596A, class 24-EP on the MILW, one source has it going to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) as 37A, and it now resides at the Illinois Railway Museum. This is not the original platform lighting for Union Station, these are bare bulb work lights. At the time of this photo, the station and north platforms sheds were in the process of being torn down in preparation for construction of glass and steel office buildings over the air rights.
